But in this case, you don't want to hand her the arrangement of orchids and then hand her a box of something. No, not at all. What you want to do is go out and get a pair of earrings or a bracelet and put it in a box. Then take the box and place it inside the arrangement. You want to hide it just enough so that she doesn't see it right away, but with more careful inspection she'll see that there is something inside. When she finds the box and opens it up, what she should find inside is something very beautiful and very expensive. Come on guys, it's been 28 years. She's worth it, isn't she? She may completely forget about the orchids but she will definitely remember the jewelry.

For you ladies, looking for a gift for your husband, you're going to basically use the same technique. Yes, I know. Guys, don't really go for orchids, but wait until he finds what's inside of his. In your case, jewelry isn't going to do it. Instead try this. Inside the orchid arrangement, place a nice small little envelope. When he sees the envelope and opens it up what he's going to find inside are tickets to the next Knicks game, or whatever sport is playing at the time. Tell him he can bring his buddies or anybody he wants. If he's smart, he'll take you. That is of course unless sport isn't your thing. Trust me on this. When he sees those tickets, it's going to be the last thing he'll expect and the look on his face will be priceless.

It isn't hard to get around the restrictions of anniversary gift lists. You just have to use a little imagination.
