Anniversary Gifts - Twenty-Second Anniversary

By: Michael Russell

The big two-two. Not as in 22 caliber either, though by this point in time there are probably quite a few wives that have had the thought cross their minds. However, if you've made it this far and are still happily married and you need an anniversary gift for the occasion, you've come to the right place. We'll go over your one and only choice for this year. The good news is, it won't break your bank account.

The anniversary gift idea for this day is copper. That's right, the stuff that pennies are made out of. And before you laugh about the idea of giving your spouse a penny for your anniversary, the idea isn't as funny as you might think. Why? A very detailed explanation follows.

Coin collecting is one of the oldest pastimes in the world, especially in the United States. Some coins are extremely rare and very expensive. This isn't to say that you have to spring for a rare 1892 pure copper penny for about $1,000, but you can certainly pick up a set of pennies for a couple hundred bucks. Throw in few rare ones and maybe a penny from the year you were married and two from the years that you both were born, unless of course you were both born the same year. In that case, one will do. A collection of about 20 coins would make a very nice gift.

Of course, if coin collecting isn't your thing, there are plenty of other items that are made out of copper, at least partially anyway. For example, did you know that they make cookie cutters out of copper. These go for about ten bucks, so you can get your wife quite a few of these. She's sure to get a lot of use out of them if she likes to bake.

Maybe you'd like to get her a nice big copper bowl for baking. You can get one that holds about ten quarts for about twenty bucks. Most of these bowls are coated with lacquer and have a brass hook at the end so you can hang them on the wall. Very handy.

If you want to get out of the kitchen, you can pick up some nice clocks that are encased in copper. The price range of most of these clocks is around $75 but you can get them for as little as 50 bucks. These clocks come in all shapes and sizes and can either be hung on the wall or placed on a desk or night table.

There is even some jewelry that is made out of copper such as a copper chain or bracelet. They actually make some copper bracelets out of actual pennies. This would make a very unusual gift and something that would certainly come as a surprise.

And of course the above anniversary gifts only scratch the surface. Copper is one of the most common materials in the world and you should have no problem finding just the right anniversary gift for this special day.
